Software Consultancies

Deliver open source SaaS projects for clients, or earn commission by recommending Federated to your community.

Software consultancies, agencies, and independent experts can work with Federated Computer in two ways. You can deliver Federated Core to clients as part of your projects, or you can refer clients and your audience to Federated as an affiliate. Many partners do both.

Delivering projects on Federated Core

Consultancies often spend much of a project setting up and maintaining infrastructure that the client doesn’t value directly. With Federated Core Platform, each client gets a ready-to-use Core with the applications they need, and Federated Computer keeps it updated and running. That leaves your time for the work clients pay you for:

  • Choosing the right applications and replacing proprietary SaaS.
  • Migrating data from Google Workspace, Microsoft 365, or other systems.
  • Configuring workflows and connecting applications through their open APIs.
  • Building custom features, themes, or integrations, for example on WordPress, ERPNext, or Nextcloud.
  • Training staff and providing ongoing support.

How you’d run it

  • One Core per client. Provision Cores from the dashboard or through the Provisioner API. Each one is private to that client.
  • Your team in one account. Invite colleagues as Admins or Members. See User roles.
  • Optional extras per client. Add monitoring, backup, or end-user customer service to individual Cores. See Add-ons.
  • A plan sized to your practice. The Consultant tier is usually the most cost-effective for 5 to 39 Cores. See the tier comparison.

If a client needs an application that isn’t in the software catalog, Federated Computer can add it to Federated Core so it gets the same sign-in, storage, monitoring, and updates as the rest.

Earning as an affiliate

Consultancies, publications, and other outlets with large communities can join Federated’s affiliate program and earn up to 30% on the sales they refer. The exact rate depends on the products and arrangement involved.

Affiliate programs let you recommend tools you trust and be paid for the recommendation. The best affiliates are the ones who use Federated Core themselves. When an affiliate already works with open source, and especially with the open source SaaS on Federated Core Platform, their community knows the recommendation comes from real experience.

Next steps

  1. Create an account and set up a Core for your own team. It’s the best way to learn the platform before you recommend it.
  2. Email info@federated.computer to discuss client projects, custom development, or the affiliate program.
  3. Join the Federated Builders community to talk with Federated Computer staff and other builders.
