# Bookmarks, tags, and the calendar

> Save links with notes, organize them with tags and a kanban board, and keep track of due dates.

- Web page: https://documentation.federated.computer/superbrain/bookmarks/

A bookmark is a web address plus everything you know about it: a title, a description, Markdown notes, tags, a status, a due date, and an optional contact. Anything with an address can be a bookmark: a web page, a shared file, a support ticket, a pull request, a meeting recording.

## Add a bookmark

1. Select **New** in the top bar, or open **Quick find** (Ctrl+K or ⌘K) and choose to add a bookmark.
2. Paste the address into **URL**. The **Title** and **Description** are filled in from the page where possible. You can change them.
3. Optionally add:
   - **Notes (Markdown)** for your own notes.
   - **Tags**: pick existing tags or type a new one.
   - **Status**, which places the bookmark in a column on the kanban board (for example Inbox or In Progress).
   - **Due Date**, which puts the bookmark on the calendar and lets it raise an alert.
4. Select **Save Bookmark**.

Each bookmark shows a preview with the page's title, description, and icon. These are loaded directly from the website by your browser, without telling the site where the link was saved.

## Edit a bookmark

Select a bookmark anywhere in Superbrain to open its details. You can change any field, attach a **Contact**, set an **Alert**, add a **Mailbox Watch** (see [Email, contacts, and notifications](../email-contacts-notifications/)), and see which pages it appears on.

From the details you can also:

- **Download Markdown** to save the bookmark and its notes as a `.md` file.
- Share it, or turn on its public link. See [Sharing](../sharing/).
- Move it to the trash.

If someone else changes the same bookmark while you're editing it, Superbrain won't overwrite their change. It tells you the bookmark was changed elsewhere and offers to load the latest version.

## All Bookmarks

**All Bookmarks** lists every link you've saved or that has been shared with you. Type in **Filter** to narrow the list. Use the sidebar views to see the same bookmarks by tag, by date, on the board, or by contact.

## Tags

Open **Tags** to see every tag. Select a tag to list its bookmarks, or use the buttons beside it to rename or delete it. Deleting a tag doesn't delete the bookmarks.

You can share a whole tag with colleagues. Everyone who has the tag sees every bookmark carrying it, including ones other people add later. This makes a shared tag a simple team reading list or resource library. See [Sharing](../sharing/).

## Kanban

**Kanban** shows all your bookmarks as cards in columns by status.

- Drag a card within or between columns. With the keyboard, focus a card and press the Left or Right arrow key. On a touch screen, use the card's menu.
- Drag a column by its grip to reorder it. Use the column menu to **Rename** or **Delete column**. Deleting a column moves its cards; it doesn't delete them.
- Select **Add column** to create a new status.

Only the owner of a shared bookmark can move it on the board.

> **Note**
>
> The kanban board covers all your bookmarks. To track a specific project with its own statuses, use a [collection](../collections/) with a board view.

## Calendar

**Calendar** shows bookmarks by due date. Select a day to list what's due.

You can share a date with a colleague. They'll see your bookmarks due that day, including their notes. Use this, for example, to share the agenda links for a meeting.

## Alerts

When a bookmark with an alert comes due, it appears under the bell in the top bar and, if you've allowed it, as a desktop notification. Superbrain checks for due alerts every five minutes while it's open in your browser. To be alerted by email or chat even when Superbrain isn't open, set up a notification rule. See [Email, contacts, and notifications](../email-contacts-notifications/).

## Trash

Deleted bookmarks, pages, and collections go to **Trash**. From there you can restore them or delete them permanently.

**Export all data** in the Trash view downloads everything you own in Superbrain as one archive file, which is useful as a personal backup or for moving your data elsewhere.
